Sufferers tend to value escape from reality. Non-anxiety-sufferers see their unwanted or intrusive thoughts as a normal part of the complex and creative human mind. Anxious people, however, ruminate over their thoughts. "Could this really come true?" Am I really capable of doing that? "Could I really be that?" Non-anxiety-sufferers trust their ability to handle life's challenges. Anxiety sufferers tend to have a mistrust in their abilities, their bodies, their minds, and other people.
