    We have a choice in how we view our experience of suffering.  We can see anxiety and distress as transformative or terrible.  Most of us take the terrible view because we were taught to associate weakness with defeat.  We fight and push against negative experience.   Seldom, do we consider simply being here and now in the presence of fear, showing respect for life’s challenges. 

     

    If we approach challenge in our usual ways, in which we fight against our dark moments, we chain ourselves to fear and worry. But if we approach our dark moments in a cool centered way, we’re already released from some of the shackles. 


    Cool Anxiety is different from red-hot-fiery clinical anxiety.  Clinical anxiety is a burning anxiety.  Cool Anxiety is a cooling anxiety.  Instead of calling anxiety pathological, we can call it the path of a warrior.  We can transcend limitations in the worst of times.

     

    A common misconception about confronting fear and darkness is thinking of fearlessness as having no fear. We wait to feel fearless in order to realize we are at the steering wheel.  But fearlessness is not having ‘no fear.’  Rather, fearlessness is traveling beyond fear and a willingness to confront it.  It’s saying yes to challenging times instead of no.  It’s a call to adventure, if we wish to view it as such.  So let’s start from where we are right now, in these uncertain times.  A cool anxiety attitude is what we’re looking for, and fortunately, it’s always waiting.

     

    Each one of us is the hero or heroine of our story, encountering various situations and characters throughout life.  We create our own story and adventure as we move along. I will help motivate and guide you through your unique heroic journey.
